Time Honored Values for Exceptional Lives: Purpose

In previous generations, every country, every society, every tribe had a cultural “Code of Honor”, or “Code of Conduct”, or “Code of Ethics”, oftentimes unspoken, yet acknowledged by everyone belonging to that society.

Most often, these “Codes” were passed down using the medium of story, art and/or music, and the themes were of heroism, courage, persistence, and duty. They were also taught through role modeling….through observance of the behavior and values of the adults at home and in the community around them. Although the opportunity for transmitting this content abounds in today’s world, either the content is no longer there, or there is so much content and freedom of choice for our children that they are unable to choose for themselves that which will build the foundation they need. Children, at an early age, need to be filled with the wonder of future possibilities. As they progress through school, they must be given not only the tools that are necessary for their future success, but they must build within themselves the backbone, the determination, the will to succeed. In addition, they need to learn the “Codes” that will help them to adapt to the world and society at large as they enter adulthood. The purpose of this project is:

~ To provide students with heroic stories and values from the past and present,
~ To imbue in them a sense of time honored values and strengths so necessary in their journey from childhood through adolescence, to adulthood, and,
~ To make all attempts to weave these themes into their lives for practical application in hopes of preparing them for their lives as productive, compassionate adults.
